Italian defender Michael Kayode has shut down rumors linking him to Juventus ahead of the summer transfer window with the ‘long throw in’ specialist keen on continuity with Brentford.
After an exciting first six months in west London, the Bees signed Michael Kayode permanently from Fiorentina on a five-year deal, with a club option of an additional year having joined in January.
The 20-year-old previously spent time in the Juventus Academy as a child, but was released by the Bianconeri after which he joined Gozzano and later Fiorentina where he eventually broke into the first team in the 2023/24 season under Vincenzo Italiano.
As culled from Football Italia via Tuttosport, the U-21 star who is in his second season in England and the Italian player with the most Premier League appearances this season has turned down a return to Serie A.
“I know, and it’s an honor,” he began.
“This is a fantastic world, where I feel so well. Brentford have a fantastic project. I was lucky to find this club, which we hope to bring to Europe in the last two games of the season.
“The Premier League is the Disneyland of World football. It’s all perfect, and I’m so happy here. There isn’t a more competitive league in terms of structure, quality of play, and players.
On Juventus rumor; “Honestly, I’m not thinking about my return to Italy. I just want to do well, improve at Brentford and continue developing at this club,” he emphasized.
“Obviously, it’s always nice to receive attention from Juventus and any other top club, but I’m fully focused on the end of the season.
“I’m happy here. I’ve found a family in Brentford. We are a young team, and the environment is splendid. I feel like at home with the staff members and workers at the training ground. It was easy to settle in for me despite the obvious doubts I had at the beginning. I feel like I’ve been here for 10 years.”
Michael who chose to represent Italy ahead of Nigeria was part of the squad that won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship back in 2023.
