Nigeria Outside Top 30 As Spain Maintain Lead In Latest FIFA Ranking

Spain continue to lead reigning world champions Argentina after reclaiming top spot in the FIFA World Rankings in September 2025.

Meanwhile, Nigeria sit 38th in the latest standings after failing to qualify for the FIFA World Cup for a second consecutive cycle.

Spain (1st, unchanged) remain at the summit after dethroning Argentina (2nd, unchanged) in September, while France (3rd, unchanged) complete the podium in the end-of-year standings.

Further down the ranking, Morocco (11th, unchanged) are on the brink of breaking into the top 10 for the first time since April 1998, sitting just 0.54 points behind Croatia (10th, unchanged). Fresh from lifting the FIFA Arab Cup title in Doha, the Atlas Lions continue to build momentum on the global stage.

The most notable climbs came outside the top tier, with only three teams rising by more than one place in the latest update: Arab Cup runners-up Jordan (64th, up two), Vietnam (107th, up three) and Singapore (148th, up three).

Elsewhere, Norway (29th, unchanged) impressed by accumulating 68.70 ranking points, while Suriname (123rd, unchanged) have surged 15 places since December 2024. Over the past year, 12 other nations have also climbed between 10 and 14 places.

Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Croatia maintain firm lead on top ten in that order.
