Racing Louisville FC has announced the departure of Nigerian forward Uchenna Kanu following the expiration of her contract, confirming she will not return for the 2026 season.
The decision comes just after the club secured its first-ever appearance in the NWSL Playoffs, marking a significant milestone in its young history.
Kanu is one of six players released as Racing Louisville reshapes its roster ahead of the new campaign. The club confirmed that negotiations are ongoing with several returning players, but Kanu will now enter free agency and begin the search for a new team.
Alongside her, Jordan Baggett, Bethany Balcer, Allie George, Katie Lund, and Madison White are also set to leave, with none expected to re-sign.
Despite these departures, Racing Louisville will retain a strong core group.
The 17 returning players represent the backbone of the squad, accounting for 91% of the team’s starts, 89% of its total minutes, and 88% of its goals during the 2025 season.
