
Celtic have officially announced the signing of Nigerian forward Kelechi “Senior Man” Iheanacho.
The 28 year old joins the Scottish champions as a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with Sevilla.
“Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho on a one-year deal, subject to international clearance, with the club having the option of a further year.” Read the statement via the club’s website.
He was at Leicester City in 2021 where he won the FA Cup with current Celtic coach Brendan Rodgers in charge of the club.
The former Liverpool manager had high praise for the Nigerian whom he believe will create a spark in Glasgow.
“I know Kelechi so well and what he can bring to the team. He is such a talented player, with great ability, athleticism and work-rate.
“I am sure he will love being at Celtic and I believe our fans will love what he brings. He has great experience and he is right in his peak years so he can be a great signing for us. I am sure he will make a big contribution to the team.”
Iheanacho came through the Manchester City Football Academy before establishing himself in the first team.
Spells at Leicester City, Sevilla FC and Middlesborough FC preceded his signing with Celtic FC.
He has over a hundred career goals and will sure be bringing his wealth of experience to Brendan Rodgers’ team
