OFFICIAL: Chelsea and Enzo Maresca Mutually Part Ways

Italian manager Enzo Maresca has today left Chelsea by mutual consent as officially announced by the club.

This decision comes after a not so consistent run since winning the FIFA Club World Cup as well as growing tensions between the club chiefs and the manager although injury to key players haven’t really helped.

Maresca links to Manchester City job should incase Pep Guardiola leaves hasn’t gone unnoticed and ahead of the game against the Etihad club, Chelsea will now have to quickly find a temporary solution as managerial search begins.

The club’s official statement read;

“Chelsea Football Club and Head Coach Enzo Maresca have parted company.

“During his time at the Club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the Club.

“With key objectives still to play for across four competitions including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the Club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track.

“We wish Enzo well for the future.”

Chelsea are now looking for a fifth manager in 3 years with Xavi Hernandez, Cesc Fabregas among recent names linked to the club.
