Experienced defender Semi Ajayi has started running again and is due to return to full training with Hully City next week alongside Matt Crooks as revealed by manager Sergej Jakirovic.
The 31-year old has been out since December after picking up an hamstring injury in the Africa Cup of Nations third place game against Egypt.
As revealed, the game against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday is deemed to early for him to make his return as they club looks to avoid a relapse ahead of a busy schedule.
Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic gave an injury update on the squad revealing that the Nigerian international who is yet to feature for the club this year is very close to returning back to the team as quoted by Hulldailymail.UK.
“Crooksy looks like he will be available for Portsmouth away, Semi Ajayi, next week he will start group training with us. We do have a problem though with Matty Jacob. Matty had a non contact injury in Tuesday’s training session and there is an MCL grade two injury, so we will lose him for six to eight weeks. It means we have lost an option at left full-back.”
The Championship side will have seven games in the next three weeks, a run that the veteran defender is expected to be fully involved if cleared as fit as they keep their promotion ambition on track.
