Felix Agu’s participation in Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Benin Republic is in serious doubt after the defender picked up an injury over the weekend.
Werder Bremen have yet to issue a definitive update on his condition, as the club’s medical team continues to run checks before making an official assessment.
The setback occurred late in the first half when Agu put his body on the line to block a goal-bound attempt from Martijn Kaars.
In the aftermath of the challenge, Kaars landed awkwardly on Agu’s left ankle, leaving the full-back in visible discomfort. He was unable to continue and had to be replaced before the interval.

Bremen have confirmed that Felix Agu is scheduled to undergo an MRI scan on Monday, which will reveal the extent of the damage and determine whether he can recover in time to feature for the Super Eagles in their crucial qualifying doubleheader.
Meanwhile, Eric Chelle has already made two changes to his initial squad due to injury with Christantus Uche, Zaidu Sanusi replacing Cyriel Dessers and Bright Osayi-Samuel.
