Following his return from a knee injury, Werder Bremen are taking a cautious approach with Victor Boniface’s recovery and as such, his return to action would be gradually integrated starting with individual training sessions.
Earlier this year, 25-year-old had a knee surgery and therefore be out of action for several months. The club confirmed that his loan deal until the end of 2025/26 will not be cut short, while Leverkusen’s club doctors were also involved in the decision.
Speaking ahead of the game against RB Leipzig at the Weser Stadium on Saturday, head coach Daniel Thioune expressed his delight to having the Nigerian forward back, adding that he brings great attacking dynamism to the team.
“First of all, I’m happy to have met him. We had a long talk. He indicated that he wants to help us in our fight to stay in the league. For me, that offers another option, but not for this weekend.
“In the coming weeks, we’re playing against teams of similar strength, and if we can give Victor a few minutes of playing time, that could be a big help and a real asset for us.”
