Galatasaray could be without key forward Victor Osimhen for this weekend’s clash against Trabzonspor in the Trendyol Super League after he sustained a fractured arm that may require surgery during their UEFA Champions League defeat to Liverpool F.C..
The Nigerian striker went down following an aerial challenge with Ibrahima Konaté, prompting the referee to stop play briefly. Despite the injury, Osimhen managed to continue until halftime, with the hosts heading into the break holding a 1–0 lead.
However, he was unable to carry on after the restart and was substituted at the start of the second half, with Leroy Sané coming on in his place. Galatasaray have since provided an update on his condition.
“In the first half of our away match against Liverpool in the Champions League Round of 16 second leg, our player Victor Osimhen took a blow to his arm and completed the first half, but following checks at halftime, he was not played in the second half due to the risk of a fracture in his arm,” the club’s official statement read.
“After the match, under the supervision of our medical team, examinations at the hospital revealed a fracture in our player’s right forearm, and it was casted. A decision regarding surgery will be made in the coming days following further evaluations.
“We extend our get-well wishes to our footballers Victor Osimhen and Noa Lang, who were forced to leave the game due to injuries.”
