Osimhen’s Lone Goal Enough For Ten Man Galatasaray

Victor Osimhen’s lone goal was enough for Galatasaray to see off rivals Besiktas in the battle of Instanbul on Saturday evening.

The Nigerian forward headed home from close range to send the visitors ahead in the 39th minute, a strike that ultimately ended up being the winning goal.

The goal confirms the Super Eagles forward has now reached double figures in consecutive Super Lig seasons since his arrival from Napoli in the summer of 2024.

Despite playing half an hour with a man advantage, Besiktas could not break through the resolute Galatasaray backline for an equalizer.

The victory extends the champions’ leadership at the top to seven points over fiercest rivals Fenerbahce who play later on Sunday.

Osimhen’s tenth goal of the league season means he has now achieved double figures in each of his two seasons with the Instanbul giants.

He’s however eight shy of compatriot Paul Onuachu who sit atop the scorers’ chart with eighteen goals to his name.

Osimhen will lead Galatasaray in midweek when they welcome Liverpool to Instanbul in the Champions League round of 16. Recalled, they defeated Liverpool 1-0 in the group phase thanks to a Victor Osimhen penalty.
