CAF has opened an investigation into alleged touchline misconduct during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 quarter-finals between Nigeria vs Algeria as well as the Morocco and Cameroon’s fixture
Match officials’ reports and reviewed video evidence pointing to potentially unacceptable behaviour by some players and officials during the Cameroon vs Morocco and Algeria vs Nigeria matches has been gathered to aid in the investigation.
The matters have been formally referred to CAF’s Disciplinary Board which will determine appropriate sanctions should any individuals be found guilty.
The African football governing body is also assessing video footage of a separate incident involving members of the media who are alleged to have misbehaved in the mixed zone area.
Reiterating its stance, CAF strongly condemns any form of inappropriate conduct at its competitions, particularly actions directed at match officials or organizers and insists that firm action will be taken against anyone whose behavior falls short of the expected professional standards.
