Australian Open: Semi Finals Line Up Now Complete

The 2026 Australian Open Championships is entering the latter stages with the men’s semi finals line up now complete.

Every one of the top four seeds has made it into the last four, a first since Rolland Garros in 2019 and first in the Australian Open since 2013.

Ten time champions Novak Djokovic has mother luck to thank as his quarter finals opponent Lorenzo Musetti retired due to injury. It takes him to 103 career wins at the Australian Open, breaking Roger Federer’s record of 102.

The Italian unfortunately had to forfeit the game to injury despite being two sets up and only a set away from what could have been his first ever semi finals appearance at Melbourne.

The Serbian will now face Musetti’s compatriot Jannik Sinner in the semi finals of the first Grand Slam of the year.

Sinner is the two time defending champion of the Australian Open and reached this stage by defeating home boy Ben Shelton in straight sets.

In the other semi final pairing, world number one Carlos Alcaraz will battle it out against Alexander Zverev for a place in the finals.

Alcaraz defeated Alex De Minaur to reach the last four while Zverev got the better of Learner Tien.

Both players are evenly matched in their head to head record as they share six wins apiece.

Sinner and Alcaraz are the two favourites to reach the final as they have monopolized men’s tennis in the last couple of years.

Alcaraz became the youngest player since Rafael Nadal in the Open Era to reach ten Grand Slam semi finals while Sinner cruised into his sixth consecutive Grand Slam last four, his ninth overall.

Zverev will be playing in his third consecutive Australian Open semi finals and will hope to go one better than his runners up finish last year.
