Official: Ademola Lookman Joins Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid have officially confirmed the arrival of Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman via their official website.

“Atlético and Atalanta have reached an agreement for the transfer of the Nigerian footballer, who will wear the red-and-white jersey for the next four seasons.” The club wrote.

After passing his medicals at the Vithas-Invictum High-Performance Sports Medicine Centre at Arturo Soria University Hospital in Madrid, the 28 year old proceeded to signing on the dotted lines.

The transfer comes as a relief to Ademola Lookman who has had several offers rejected by Atalanta in the last two years.

Three and a half years, one trophy -UEFA Europa League- in which he scored all three goals in the final and a total of fifty five goals in a hundred and thirty seven appearances, the Nigerian left a legacy in Bergamo.

Lookman twice won the Atalanta player of the season, won the African Footballer of the year, was included in the CAF team of the year 2024, Serie A team of the season for 2024/2025, UEFA Europa League team of the season 2023/2024 and the AFCON team of the tournament for both 2023 and 2025, all these while he was at the Italian club’s disposal.

Atletico Madrid have undoubtedly signed one of the best wingers in world football today.

The Spanish outfit paid a sum of €35m to Atlanta with €5m to be paid in add ons in order to get the deal over the line.
